Sustainability

A More Considered Approach

At Fifth Loom, sustainability begins with a simple principle: create with intention, and make every piece worthy of being kept.

We believe the value of clothing should extend beyond a season. Our approach to leather outerwear is therefore centred on considered design, material awareness, quality construction, and longevity.

We do not believe sustainability is a claim that should be made lightly. It is an ongoing responsibility, shaped by the decisions behind every material, garment, package, and process.

Designed for Longevity

The most considered garment is one that continues to earn its place in a wardrobe.

Fifth Loom designs leather jackets and outerwear with longevity in mind, favouring enduring silhouettes over short-lived trends and considered detailing over unnecessary complexity.

Leather naturally develops character through wear. Its surface can soften, change, and become increasingly individual over time.

Our intention is to create pieces that feel relevant not only when they are first worn, but for years to come.

Respect for the Material

Leather is a material with character, complexity, and environmental impact.

We believe responsibility begins by acknowledging that reality rather than simplifying it.

Our approach is to use materials thoughtfully, focus on quality rather than excess, and continue improving our understanding of sourcing, processing, traceability, and production as Fifth Loom develops.

Where natural variations occur in leather, including differences in grain, texture, and tone, we see them as part of the material's individual character rather than something that must always be made perfectly uniform.

Fewer, Better Considered Pieces

Fifth Loom is built around a deliberate approach to product creation.

Rather than designing simply to follow constant cycles of change, we aim to develop focused collections of leather outerwear with a clear purpose, considered construction, and a lasting point of view.

For us, responsible design is not about creating more.

It is about making each piece matter.

Responsible Progress

We recognise that there is always more to improve.

As Fifth Loom grows, our goal is to strengthen transparency across the areas that matter most, including:

  • Material sourcing and traceability

  • Leather processing and finishing

  • Manufacturing practices

  • Packaging

  • Transportation and fulfilment

  • Product longevity

  • Waste reduction

We will only communicate specific environmental, sourcing, certification, or manufacturing claims when we are able to support them with appropriate information.

Transparency Over Perfection

Sustainability is not a finished statement.

It is a process of asking better questions, making more considered decisions, and being transparent about both progress and limitations.

We would rather communicate what we know with clarity than make promises we cannot substantiate.

As our practices evolve, this page will evolve with them.

The Fifth Loom Perspective

We believe good design should have a life beyond its first season.

A piece should be chosen deliberately, worn often, cared for properly, and allowed to develop its own character over time.

Considered in design. Respected in material. Created for a longer relationship with what you wear.

That is the direction Fifth Loom is committed to pursuing.
